Adam, Luke and Zoe help Gillingham people to find Treasure in the Trash!

10 Feb 2016

Adam, Luke and Zoe are finding treasure in the trash - helping Gillingham people to Give and Take!

These three young people are finalists in our BIG Ideas Challenge.  They help run the junior sessions at Gillingham Youth Club, and they care passionately about our planet.

Last Sunday they gave up their time to organise their first Give and Take event, around 40 people came along and over 200 items that may have otherwise ended up in landfill were taken to new homes.

They are running another event this Saturday, so do go along and see what you can find.

It’s open to all and free.

Everyone is encouraged to bring unwanted items (i.e. clothes, toys, kitchen utensils, electrics, etc) to GIVE away and/or is welcomed to TAKE anything they like.

All for FREE! The entry is FREE too.

Even if you don’t have anything to give away, come along and see if there is any item(s) you want/need. The aim of the event is to recycle as many unwanted items as possible by finding it a good home.

Plus, there will be FREE tea & coffee, energy saving TOMBOLA, homemade beauty product samples and demonstration of an INNOVATIVE prototype to charge mobile phones by walking.

Join us from 12 to 4PM on on SATURDAY 13th of February.

Venue: Gillingham Youth Centre, Cemetery road, Gillingham, SP8 4AZ. FREE entry.

The event is funded by “Communities Living Sustainably” as part of the Dorset BIG Ideas Challenge.  Sponsorhsip has been provided by Dorset Waste Partnership.
